I cannot shake this sense of dread. Yet our world was already brutal and I already knew it. So what has changed with Trump’s election? The brutality that had been covert, latent, implicit is now glaringly apparent for all to see. That is good, right? It means we can no longer ignore it, right?
Ah. There it is. The source of my dread: What has NOT changed? We still do not see. We who could confront it, we who pretend we are neither perpetrators nor victims, we avert our eyes. We keep on pretending.
